Happy MLK Day! Today we celebrate the wonders of Martin Luther King Jr and everything he has done for social justice. A prayer that we can dedicate do him is : O God help us walk together, pray together, sing together, and live together until that day when all God’s children, Black, White, Red, and Yellow, will rejoice in one common band of humanity in the kingdom of our Lord. - Amen #mlkday #mlk #mlkquotes #mlkweekend #martainlutherkingjr
Our Father in Heaven, we give thanks for the pleasure of gathering together for this occasion. We give thanks for this food prepared by loving hands. We give thanks for life, the freedom to enjoy it all, and all other blessings. As we partake of this food, we pray for health and strength to carry on and try to live as You would have us. This we ask in the name of Christ, Our Heavenly Father.
Lord God, today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country's heritage, for all of us.
Please watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness!

Happy Labor Day! πͺπ½ππ©πΎ
As you probably know, St. Joseph the Worker is the foster father of our Lord, and was a carpenter, and he serves as a great example to all workers. Through his labor, he was able to provide for the Holy Family, while also continuing to live out his faith and love both Mary and Christ. And so, may we pray that all workers may be given the opportunity to be like St. Joseph! π€
As Catholics, we have a responsibility to preach and to teach, to worship and to pray. We can be more supportive of the Black Catholic community by implementing church documents that address Racism, Evangelization and Catechesis, Liturgy and Pastoral Care. We can also educate ourselves on the history of Black Catholicism which, is not only the history of Black Catholics but also of our Catholic Church. Today on Juneteenth, take a moment to deepen your knowledge of the contributions made by the Black community to the Catholic Church and the challenges they faced and are still facing in the present day.
The Church documents mentioned above, along with many more, can be found posted on the diocesan website under African Ancestry Ministry.

On day 5 of Emmaus, we were presented with an amazing talent show submitted by the youth! From spoken word to unicycle riding, we witnessed the wondrous talents and beautiful abilities God has blessed us all with. Although some of us have yet to realize our own talents, we have grown to learn that each and every one of us has a special way we can help others. Whether by virtue of patience, artistry, or intelligence, we can use our unique superpowers to be the light to people around us. You can support others by uplifting their strengths so that they too can see their powerful place in this world.
~ LET THE LORD GUIDE YOU~
Through all of the difficulties and rough times, the Lord will be with us every step of the way. It is easy to doubt God when things go south, but the Lord knows the desires of our hearts and will take care of them. We can always turn to Our Father, and we must trust in him to guide us along our journey of faith.
~DON’T HOLD GRUDGES~
Repent and God will forgive you, regardless of how much you sin! God’s forgiveness has no end, and we should extend our forgiveness to those who may have hurt us. We are God’s children. We are brothers and sisters. There’s nothing that can’t be forgiven out of our love for one another and God. Forgive like our Father.
~YOU ARE LOVED~
God’s love for us is beyond any failures or disappointments that might happen to you! It is easy to feel alone sometimes. Letting setbacks push you into a mindset of self-doubt can lead you to thinking that - just maybe - nobody cares about you. That you are not worthy of anyone’s love. God sent his own Son to die for us out of his love for us. You may think that no one loves you at times, but know that God’s love for you is endless!
